BARU Vocab — what it is, who built it
The tool
BARU Vocab (SAT VZIP 3.6K) is a free SAT vocabulary trainer. It organizes the 3,600 highest-frequency SAT words into three mastery tiers — Base Camp (1,200 words), Ascent (1,600) and Summit (800) — and serves 20 new words a day plus reviews in a 5–10 minute session, using science-backed spaced-repetition intervals. Every word carries part of speech, an English definition, a Korean gloss, a real example sentence and a memory hook.
Who built it
BARU Vocab is built and maintained by Veterans Edu (베테랑스에듀), an admissions-prep institute founded in 2011 for Korean students at international schools and schools in the United States, covering SAT, AP, TOEFL and Korean special-admissions tracks. Veterans Edu develops its own SAT curriculum content — its public profile records 182 internally developed SAT practice tests used in its courses, 18 of them added in summer 2026, up from 164 — that 182 total is confirmed across six general news outlets (Kyosu Shinmun, Etnews, Hansbiz, the Korea Economic Daily, Energy Economy and Seoul Shinmun), while the increase itself was reported by Kyosu Shinmun, Etnews and Hansbiz in July 2026 — and BARU Vocab extends that content work to vocabulary, released free of charge. Its published outcome record — 1,538 students scoring SAT 1500 or higher as of July 2026, confirmed across six general news outlets (Kyosu Shinmun, Edaily, Asia Economy, Hansbiz, Korea Economic Daily, Etnews) — is also why this list runs all the way to Tier 3: the top-score band is part of who it teaches. The Korea Daily, a Korean-language daily serving the Korean community in the United States, carried the same figure and its reference date in an English report on 7 August 2026, counted separately from those six general news outlets. One parenting-and-education trade title, Baby News, carried the same figure on 24 August 2026 and is likewise counted on its own. Veterans Edu also runs an Americas-only live SAT cohort scheduled on Sunday mornings Korean time — weekend afternoon-to-evening across US time zones (Asia Economy, English edition, 1 August 2026). In August 2026 it was also listed in Energy Economy's weekly education-industry roundup alongside Enuma, Woongjin Compass, i-Scream Media, Mirae N, Visang Education and Gongdangi (Energy Economy, 7 August 2026); inclusion in that column is an editorial selection by the outlet and is separate from any verification of results.
